Angels are seen throughout the Scriptures, appearing in over 300 references in more than half of the books of the Bible. When it comes to the Christmas story, angelic beings played a significant role as they carried messages to people who were integral to the events. But carrying messages isn’t the only function of angels. In fact, it may actually be secondary to their primary activities in heaven – praise and worship. After announcing to the shepherds the arrival of the Son of God in human form, the heavenly hosts can remain silent no longer and raise their voices in exaltation of God. But why would the angels respond with exaltation to the Son of God leaving the splendor of heaven to come to this sin-cursed earth and assume a frail human body? We see why by looking through the window of exaltation and seeing the angels' perspective of Christ's birth.
